Research Roadmap

The research initiatives of the Institute for Peace Studies, Prince of Songkla University, are conducted in alignment with the Research Roadmap established by the Institute. Emphasis is placed on studies concerning peacebuilding processes, conflict and nonviolent approaches, multicultural society, and the strengthening and integration of various sectors of society. These research endeavors are driven under a strategic framework that prioritizes interdisciplinary integration, the capacity development of researchers and research networks, as well as the management of research systems that are responsive to the needs of stakeholders across all sectors. The overarching goal is to develop human resources with comprehensive knowledge of nonviolent approaches, to foster peace within communities, and to apply peacebuilding and conflict transformation strategies as effective mechanisms for addressing social conflicts.

In addition, the production of academic works serves as a body of knowledge that supports and reinforces mechanisms for addressing conflict and violence in the southern border provinces of Thailand. This has evolved into a model that advances academic engagement, strengthens civil society, and establishes communication platforms to promote social agendas and peacebuilding through knowledge-based approaches. These efforts are coordinated with research, academic services, and social innovations to generate knowledge that provides guidance for preventing and overcoming obstacles to sustainable peace.

Research outputs have been produced in four key dimensions: conflict management, environmental management, local governance development, and coexistence within multicultural societies. The focus is on ensuring that these outcomes contribute to academic advancement and practical application. Furthermore, collaborative research networks have been established both nationally and internationally, fostering integrated efforts in conflict resolution and supporting sustainable peacebuilding processes in the southern border region.
